Summer is Destin’s busiest season by volume, but fall is when the Destin Harbor gets loud in a different way — back-to-back events that run from late September clear through Halloween. Here’s how the calendar lays out for 2026.
Late September: the Seafood Festival
The Destin Seafood Festival runs September 25–27 along the Harbor Boardwalk — fresh Gulf seafood, live music, and the unofficial kickoff to fall on the water.
All of October: the Fishing Rodeo
The Destin Fishing Rodeo takes over the entire month, with daily weigh-ins on the boardwalk, weekly shark competitions, a 5K, kids’ fishing days, and an awards ceremony with six figures in prizes.
All season: harbor fireworks and live music
HarborWalk Village keeps its fireworks tradition going into fall, typically shifting to Saturday nights in October before a Halloween-weekend finale.
Planning around it
The water stays warm enough to swim at Crab Island well into October, mornings finally cool off, and the summer crowds thin — which makes fall one of the best times to book a trip, as long as you plan around festival and Rodeo weekends when the harbor and dock schedules fill up fast. Reach out early if you’re eyeing a date in September or October.
