With a bareboat charter you dictate the itinerary! If there is anything in specific you would like to see or do, just ask your captain and they will do their best to accommodate your party! Typically our customers like to depart the dock and head straight for Crab Island where they will drop anchor and enjoy the shallow sandy water for most of their trip. As the trip nears the end, they will pull anchor and go cruise the pass and the harbor to take in the sights or look for dolphins before cruising back to the dock.
Bareboat charters are recreational charters where the customer rents a boat and hires an independent operator to captain them. It’s as simple as booking the boat, and hiring a captain on over the phone or on the dock! We have multiple operators that we work with regularly and they will be on the dock ready to go out! Operators are paid a separate fee from the boat fee, and are paid before the boat departs the dock, as per USCG regulations (cash is preferred).
Cancellations made prior to 72 hours of the start of your trip will be issued a full refund, minus booking fees. Cancellations made within 3 days (72 hours) of your trip will be charged the full booking price. Weather cancellations are at the sole discretion of East Pass Excursions, and decisions will be made based on the severity of the conditions. Cancellations made by East Pass Excursions due to weather or unforeseen circumstances will be issued a full refund. Typically, a light rain or localized showers move through the area quickly and do not constitute cancellation conditions. If high winds or thunderstorms enter the area, East Pass Excursions will attempt to reschedule, refund, or recall your boat to the dock during your trip and prorate your unused time.
Yes, all of our boats have the proper safety gear required by the United States Coast Guard. This includes lifejackets for all onboard. If you prefer to bring your own however please feel free, and if you are bringing little ones we highly recommend that you bring one for them so that you can ensure a good fit before departure. Any children under the age of 6 must wear a lifejacket while underway.
Good question, you can bring anything you would normally need for a day at the beach! Common items include: swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, sunglasses, cell phone, camera, snacks, drinks, and a cooler (although one is provided!)
Yes! There are lots of vendors at Crab Island, including food vendors. You can buy everything from burgers to t-shirts on the sandbar.
The water at Crab Island is the clearest 2 hours before high tide, high tide, and up to 2 hours after high tide. This is because the clean gulf water is flowing into the bay, creating a spectacle as it rushes over the sandbar. Once the tide starts to flow back out the pass, the water gets more green as the bay water flows to the gulf. To experience Crab Island at its best, book your trip around the incoming high tide! Click here to check the tides for your trip!
Crab Island is a shallow sandbar situated at the mouth of the East Pass to the Gulf of America. Once an actual island created from dredging the beach, it has eroded away with the tides and created a boaters paradise! There is no dry land at Crab Island, so bring your swimsuit and a towel and get ready to float your day away!
On our Private Charters we will cruise to Crab Island where we will anchor up and enjoy the sun and shallow waters. If you would like to cruise the harbor or look for Dolphins we can absolutely accommodate that as well! Just let your Captain know what you would like to experience and they will do their best to make it happen!
Yes, we do allow alcohol onboard our boats. Please drink responsibly, and refrain from bringing glass bottles.
Unfortunately no, you cannot purchase alcohol at Crab Island. Be sure to bring what you need with you!
